In Sanskrit the word matsyasana means fish pose. This type of pose is also known as backbend. It is said that matsyasana is the destroyer of all the diseases. The steps to be followed while doing this asana are:
- In a flat place put a mat or a table.
- Turn towards the south and sit on the mat.
- Fold your left leg and place it on your right thigh.
- Then fold your left leg and place it on your right thigh.
- The foot should touch your waist.
- The backbone should be kept straight.
- The thumb and the forefinger should be folded together.
- Eyes should be closed.
- From that position itself lie down at the back.
- Stay in that position for few minutes.
- Inhale and come back to the original position.
